crazy shoe lady

i love shoes.  sometimes i buy them and i never even wear them.  instead, i rotate between 3 pairs of toms and forget about the 30+ other pairs in my room.

since we started packing, i've thrown out about 10 pairs of shoes.  10.  i'm purging to help get rid of excess and lighten the moving load.

but then i had a setback.  before buying our suitcases, we popped into an adjacent shoe store- the kind that sells hideous plastic shoes that are all imported from china, and fall apart after about 3 wears.  i wasn't actually going in there to look at all, just to buy time.  but then i caught my eye on their selection of jellies.  jellies!! i used to LOVE those shoes.

i tried on a pair that i found super adorable, really comfortable, and c-h-e-a-p!  when i learned they were made in egypt, i told the saleswoman that we need to support egypt, so i bought them.  they're so fun and perfect for summer!

the consolation is that they will probably survive a trip to sahel, but then will fall apart and won't even have to return to cairo with us.
