we bake

i love to cook, but baking is not my forte. i don't have much patience for precision and measuring. but i bake for my bib. the first time i baked him some chocolate chip cookies was the first time he had ever had them. imagine!? and he's been hooked ever since. he loves them so much that while i was in paris, i stocked up on bars of dark chocolate just for his cookies! better than buying overpriced, stale, hersheys chocolate chips. so i make them for special occasions or whenever he's going through a stressful stretch of work and needs a pick me up.

now unfortunately, my cairo kitchen is barely stocked with anything, and definitely not any expensive electric appliances. so yes, when i cook or bake, i do it all by hand. all the mixing, all the chopping. and since i love to spend so much time in the kitchen, bib has been learning to help so we can spend the time together. (so far he has mastered the grating technique, and he is a fantastic dish washer!)

so for new years, i am making the buckeyes, that were a huge hit in my office when i made them for christmas, as well as his favorite chocolate chip cookies.
