a family of tourists in cairo!

my parents finally came in for the wedding!  we are happily hosting our families who have come from abroad to attend our wedding.  it's always great when we all get together.

it's a family tradition to go to al hussein and khan al khalili -- one of my favorite places in cairo.  we wander through the alleys, and always end up feasting at one of the legendary restaurants there.  it's where i've come since i was a baby to buy egyptian crafts and souvenirs for friends back home.  now, it's where i go to get things customized in brass, or to get massage oils scented with lavender, sandalwood and musk, or the beautiful copper lamps we love so much.

last year we discovered this amazingggggg book store that can custom bind, monogram, and make leather books.  it's one of my favorite stores in cairo.  i personally love to have everything monogramed, so give me yet another option and i'm happy!  i also love to keep a diary, so when we found the store last year, bib had made me a diary with my initials on it.  it was the first gift he ever gave me :-).

i think it's the perfect gift to give to someone.  i think that when we get back from the honeymoon, i want to have an old-fashioned photo album made with our names and wedding date on it.

my dad had a journal made and i watched them emboss the leather.  it was a big hit with the family, turned out that everyone wanted to have something done.

bib and i, we know all things great.

in the end, we went and had feteer, aka egyptian pancakes, or egyptian pizza.  feteer is a pie that is made with layers of filo dough, stuffed with savory or sweet options.  it's super yummy, and bib's favorite.
