red sea getaway at ras sudr

since bib had been working like a mad man for most of april, i planned a special getaway for us during egypt's labor day weekend.

egypt is known for its plethora of world famous beaches along the red sea.  ras sudr was the perfect choice for the trip!  we got there in just about 2.5 hours, and were met with turquoise shades of warm water and plenty of sun-burning-shine.  (we drove under the suez canal on the way.  the nerdy engineers in us were excited about that!!)

we were just a few kilometers from the actual springs of moses, and the place where moses is said to have parted the red sea.  at sunset on our first night, we learned that the miracle was actually just low tide...  that tide gets low, and that sea is shallow!

that dot off on the horizon is a person walking through

we spent the 3 days lying around on the beach, taking naps, reading, and swimming.  it was perfect.  so perfect that we are planning to go back to ras sudr for another long weekend getaway soon!
