when we met with the hotel's head pastry chef, he was taken aback by the picture of the cake we want. and even the flavors i requested were new and never done before. the cake we want is complicated, detailed and different. once i saw it, i was in love. the chef had never seen, nor even tried anything like it before, and wasn't sure it would be possible for him to make. so we prepared ourselves for disappointment, and in the weeks following our meeting, we looked for other simpler options.
when they asked us back to do the cake tasting, we actually went with other pictures of simpler cakes that would be good enough. we were prepared to re-review our options, and start from scratch. but once we arrived, we were sat down in their bakery, and asked to close our eyes. much to our happy surprise, the chef presented us with our cake. he actually nailed it. he created a replica of the photo we showed him. he explained his thought process, his trials, and he even thanked us for the design, because it's something so unique and special, he will be able to add it to their portfolio to show it off to other customers!!
for once i was happy, speechless, and smiling about something related to this wedding. i was so happy and i took so many pictures of the cake, the chef was just as happy as i was. i was speechless except for repeating that i couldn't believe it. the poor guy was even offended that we came with backup options!
rather than having us taste pieces of cakes with the chef, he prepared 3 mini cakes of the flavors we requested (also custom-selected), and sent us home with them instead. we rushed back to dig into them, and couldn't wait to choose.

Wait I don't remember the chocolate cake nor the lemon cake! ;) How were they? Your wedding cake was delicious!!! I ate 2 slices and unfortunately could not eat anymore since I was sooooo full and still wanted to dance a few more songs.
